ハロウィンについてCherry先生が教えてくれました。

Hi! this is teacher Cherry, I want share this simple information with you

10月31日にはこの世とあの世の境目がなくなりあの世の死者がこの世に舞い戻ってくると信じられていました。ハロウィンパーティではこの世に舞い戻ってきた悪い霊達を怖がらせて追い払うために仮装するようです。

People believe that the line that separates dead people from the living ones disappears on Oct 31st. It is believed that on thIs day, the soul of the dead returns to our world.
As a celebration, some people will wear scary costumes and hold Halloween party. They presume that doing such event will drive away the evil spirits.

Halloween wasn’t celebrated in Japan until recent years. When Kosupure became popular among Japanese youth, shopping malls and some theme parks hold fun Halloween events in September and October. Kosupure means “cosplay” a short term for costume play or masquerade. You can observe some Halloween parades, costume parties , and trick-or-treat often in fall. While in summer, people enjoy ghost storytelling and haunted attractions. People wear various costumes such as kimono, and more. They also wear make-ups or masks and imitate their favorite characters.

Here in the Philippines,October 31st is the eve of All Saints Day. In some places, people go trick-or-treating, hold costume parties, decorate carved pumpkins and visit haunted houses also to drive away evil spirits. November 1 and 2 are spent remembering our dead loved ones. People bring flowers and candles in the cemetery or the memorial park.

Thank you for watching this video about Halloween. I’m happy to share these information to you. Again this is teacher Cherry. Mata ne!
